What we learn from PPD

What we learn from PPD

PPD which is known as Personal Progress Development can be considered as a guild line of our lives. Not only that but also it is energy and time saving method. From these PPD sessions that we had in our university, we could gain so many valuable points to our lives, as well as so many unforgettable memories.

We could improve our soft skills which re important tour professional life. Such as leadership skills, presentation skills, working skills, communication skills. Therefore we can take this as a keeping the first step for our own brighter future.

Team work makes the dream work.” As in the mentioned quotation working as a team, makes our work easier, when we compare to working as individuals. Throughout these PPD sessions, we could learn how to complete such a task according to a proper plan.

As students, we all have our own abilities and weaknesses. It is a very unique thing which is different person to person. Throughout these indoor and outdoor activities, we were able to identify those things. In my opinion, by identifying these matters, our contribution for a team work can be increased.

Apart from the facts that I mentioned, our PPD session is mainly focused on the point which is having a strategy before starting a task. We have to pay more attention to some points like
1.       the dead line
2.       The way of doing the task
3.       What are things that make it easier
4.       The way of getting maximum use from the given resources
First of all we have to spend some time on analyzing the given task or the activity. Then we have to put our effort according to the impotency of each work.

Although it was a success or a failure, we have to keep going on through the process. As well as we should be able to maintain our mentality to not to lose the hopes until the end. Because it is more important  to complete the working process,  compared to a uncompleted victory

Paper Tower

Paper Tower Activity

The paper tower activity can be recognized as a very good activity which can develop our personal progress. Among so many activities which we have done in the PPD session, this activity teach more memorable lesson to my personal life.

In this activity we were divided into 3 three groups and provided 12 papers, a gum tape and a pair of scissors. Apart from that, the tower that we built could be stand at the given place. Then we have to build the tallest tower within the given 45 minutes. First of all we discussed about the way we going to do that in proper way. Therefore, as we all wanted our tower to be the tallest one, we started to build that from the body.

After a while we realized that before making the body, we have to pay more attention to the basement of the towerAfter that all of our group members shared their ideas and finally we a shape of a cone is the best wayThen we fixed the both part.

When we were making the body of the tower taller and taller, the balance of the tower got lost. Therefore we added four legs to our tower and made it stronger. After we realized that time has gone so much, then we quickly finished building it. We made a small ornament to the top but unfortunately we could not put it on the top due to some balancing problems.

To make our paper tower better, we could have a proper plan from the first. By having a strategy we should have been pay more time to make our basement of the tower strongly. After that we should have been build the body. And also time management was a problem and we should think more creatively as well.

Through this activity I learnt lot of things which are important to our day today lifeIn these kinds of activities, someone should be volunteered to be the leader first of all. Not only that but also other members should listen to the leader. Lack of creativity and problems of timing were issues. We have to be concern about these matters also. Working according to a strategic plan can decrease the problems which can be occurred in this kind of a task.

PPD

As a concept

PPD which is known as Personal Progress Development can be considered as a guide line for our life. Development is a process of expanding ,  shaping and improving skills, knowledge and interests to improve your abilities. In PPD it is mainly focused on having a strategic plan, to achieve life goals (both short term and long term). By PPD we will get a better sense of control over our life and we will make better decision on the way. Good preparation decreases the risk of things going wrong with our life journey. It is the same with a personal development it increases possibilities that our life will go in the right direction.

A personal progress development is a process that consists of defining what is important to you, what you want to achieve, what strength you already have that help to achieve your life goals and what you need to improve and develop with time. Having a strategic plan for everything is a very powerful method to handle our life. Define what is really important to us and start working on the things that matter most helps to save the time as well as labour.

In our life we are so busy with day today activities that we rarely have time for thinking and planning. Activities like we do at the session helps us to get more clarity about goals which are the most important to us and to create realistic strategic plans.

How PPD helps us as an undergraduate

As an undergraduate different types of problems and different types of people are met in our day today life as well as in our professional life for a better preparation, for our own future. This PPD sessions (Personal Progress and Development ) help us to increase our thinking And to create a strategic plans for our own goal . Through out this sessions our knowledge to do a task (even if it is a small one or a life longer one) is increased.
There are some considerable points which I realized that are important when we start to do a task as well as to continue it in a proper way.

1.       Define the goals
2.       Prioritize
3.       Set a deadline
4.       Understand your/group membersstrengths and weaknesses recognize opportunities and threats
5.       Always have a strategy
6.         Develop new skills
7.       Take actions
8.       Get supportTake correct decision at the correct time
