Life goals, the chart

In previous ppd sessions, we did different kind of group activities to develop our skills to work with a team, to work with people. Those developing skills help us to build a good personality for our own betterment.

But in this week we did a kind of a different, individual task to think only about ourselves and to think “what are the things that we really wanted to happen to us”. In the last day of our first semester, we were asked to bring a cardboard and color pencils. Then we had to draw our own life goals chart within the given time.

First of all I took a piece of paper and I roughly jod down my goals. The we were asked to divide those goals into3 categories.

1. Personal goals

2. Academic goals   

3. Professional goals

 In this week we have done a small presentation to our chart. It was an interesting session, because listening to others’ life goals are pretty interesting. We had to explained  clearly , our life goals in the chart.

In this activity, we mainly focused about our future plans and we had to think that  "what we are planning to do” and “what are the things that we have done in order to achieve those goals. Therefore we realized that we have to spend more time to achieve our goals  in order to have good life.

Make the egg protector

Preventing the egg from breaking

This week PPD activity is preventing the egg from breaking.  Few resourses were given by the conductor (the egg, 5 papers, a role of celotape) the egg were released from the 10 feet of height. The egg should be survived without a single crack.

During the task, first of all, we had a small chat and we planned the task. Then we decided to make a paper shell to the egg. When the egg falling down, according to active of weight, bottom or the top of the egg will touches the ground first. Therefore we put more papers to the bottom and to the top of the egg to absorb the pressure. Then we wrapped the whole egg by using the given papers.

 Then we added our engineering knowledge to that creation. We added few legs to the egg and we stopped the derect touching the ground when it drops.  Then we did something creative and we transformed our paper shield into a baby.

During the dropping time our egg is the only one could survive totally (without a single crack). Therefore we were the winning team for the day.

For our victory, there were some major points that effect a lot .

101.   We had a strategy to manage our resourses as well as to do the task.

202.  We thought creatively and innovatively through a engineering mind.

303.  We worked as a team and manage the given time wisely.

404.  We had a separate time to listen to everybody

opinions.

PPD Activities

PPD  activities

In PPD which is known as Personal Progress Development, we did different kind of that we can gain many valuable stuff to our day today life as well as to our future. As an undergraduate of software engineering, for our own betterment and for our own brighter future we can develop our soft skills from these activities.

As an example Lava River is this type of group activity. The conductor of the session gave us 4 plates to each 3 groups by using those 4 plates we should cross the Lava River without losing the human touch of those plates. The group that crosses the river in the minimum time will win the game.

And in the other activity “standing on the paper” our conductor gave us a blank paper and then the whole group should stand on that given paper. If we could do that then the paper should fold into 2 and again we should continue the game by folding and standing on the paper.

By doing those activities, we learned many things that we could do better in this activities. First of all we should have a little discussion and then should have a proper strategy. We should have a proper communication way with our group members. We should have paid more attention to the given time. Then we should have manage and maintain the given resources throughout the game. We should be prepared for unexpectable situations which can occur during the game. By paying more attention to this points we could done a great job and perform well as a one group.
